On Saturday, July 24th, the American Motors Club of Alberta presented their 9th Annual Show & Shine at Lake Chestermere, Alberta, which is just east of Calgary. The weather was warm & sunny, the attendance was enthusiastic, and the turnout was about 450 vehicles, of which 327 cars and trucks registered for prizes and awards.
![]() | Of the many cars that were being shown, there were 22 AMCs presented by members of the AMCA. We were happy to have some Special Guests join us through displaying their AMCs. These guests included Chris MacLean with his 1975 Gremlin X, Mark Desi and his 1981 SX-4, Glenn Schaife, showing his unrestored 1971 Gremlin, and Fred Phillips. Of special note were two remarkable, and famous, AMCs, which were shown by Fred Philips. One was the amazing AMX Vignale which was a 1966 American Motors prototype. The other was one of the original AMC Trans-Am race cars, car number 3, that was driven by Peter Revson. And, from the Edmonton Chapter, were Don Francoeur (El Presidenté) and his 1959 Ambassador "The Pink Panther"; Wayne Berube, who brought his 1969 BBB Javelin, and Ken Ames, presenting his 1973 Hornet. |

This year, the AMCA has introduced a new category called "The Young Gun". This category is dedicated to the younger hobbyists under the age of 25 years old, who show both a real interest and have proven their abilities.

This year's winner of "The Young Gun" award was Domimic Fasoli, with his 1966 Mustang. AMCA member Charlene Marshall says, "This young man was chosen after we spoke to his parents. They say that Dominic bought this car at an auction when he was 15 years old. The reason that he bought this particular car is that his Dad had bought a '66 Mustang when he was 16, and Dominic wanted to have one just like his father did. He and his father worked on the car together with Dominic doing the majority of the work under his father's supervision. At age 17, Dominic finally got to drive his Mustang as it took that long to make it what it is now".
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year — watch the Cruise Calendar for the date!
