For only the second time since it's inception, the American Motors Owners annual convention was staged west of the Mississippi in July, 2007, and members from both Chapters took advantage of the location to either drive or fly to the Denver show.
One of the "Special Events" that was put on for the Convention was a trip to Bandimere Raceways, and the running of such famous cars as "Pete's Patriot" and Shirley Shahan's "Drag-on Lady". Here are some scenes from that event ....

This was the match-up that everyone wanted to see: Pete's Patriot versus The Drag-on Lady, which was to be a "World's First" performance. As these two AMX S/S machines were originally from different areas of the United States ( Pete's Patriot was based in Nebraska, while The Drag-on Lady was based on the West Coast ). Unfortunately, it was never determined which of the two cars was the fastest — Pete's Patriot blew the engine near the end of the run, and was out for the rest of the Race Day event! Such is Life, it seems .... |

Not that there was a lack of activity at the track. This shot of an AMX "warming the tires" was all a part of the action that was seen throughout the event Not sure what that white car is supposed to be, but I'd suggest that he either "Go" or "go home" ...! |

One car that a lot of AMC drivers could more easily identify with was this "413" Gremlin.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this car is not used to go "grocery-shopping" with on the weekend ...! |
